The leading value of the Blue Horizon Ltd laboratories is that of being an independent provider of environmental sampling, monitoring and testing services in Iraq. Our laboratories provide analytical test services to industries, companies and organizations working in Iraq. Chemical and biological analytical measurements are accomplished utilizing instrumentation operated by skilled chemists, biologist and soil scientists. Additionally, Blue Horizon provides an expanded and comprehensive array of laboratory analytical tests in partnership with ISO17025 accredited laboratories to which samples are shipped via an established fast track customs clearing courier bridge.
BH laboratories perform analyses of different specializations such as water quality (surface water, groundwater, wastewater and irrigation water), soils, sediments and microbiology. All laboratory sections work in accordance with international standard methods and guidelines. Most of the measurements employ APHA standard methods. BH laboratories staff have provided soil/water/ambient air analytical services for a large number of clients in Iraq as subcontractor for multinational firms such as CH2M and Coffey Environmental as well as directly for government, NGO and commercial clients.
Water quality analytical tests availed by BH Laboratories include the physical, chemical and biological characteristics. A comprehensive list of tests and methods performed by the laboratories are available upon request. Specific methods are selected by BH Laboratories according to client needs. The list has evolved through the years and our laboratories welcome requests from clients to expand and/or modify field sampling, field tests, monitoring methods and lab tests and methods.
The variety of water sources such as ground water, surface water, wastewater dictate different methods for performing water quality assessment. Some of the simple physical measurements can be made on‐site in the field are temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and turbidity via direct contact measurements of the tested water source in question.
More complex measurements (mainly chemical measurements) must be performed in the lab using instruments such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS), Total Organic Carbon Analyze, various instruments for the measurement of physical and chemical parameters of water, drinking water, wastewater, sediment, soil and plant, (Turbidity, Temperature, Salinity, Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Soil Parameters Bulk Density and Specific Gravity, Sieve/Hydrometer Grain Size). Water quality reports and the data interpretations can be drafted by Blue Horizon or jointly with the clients or reviewed by international consultants who have previously worked with the laboratories in order to meet client's or project requirements.
The soil and sediment Lab offers services to analyze soil and sediments from the initial steps of sampling to sample pretreatment, analysis and report generation.
